2012 will bring another global economic crisis. It could have been avoided if America and other deficit countries had embarked on currency devaluation and tighter domestic policy to sustain recovery and growth, boost exports and savings, while cutting excessive debts built up in the pre-crisis 'gilded age'. But they didn't. Instead they continued to run large government deficits, effectively transferring debt from private to public hands, rather than reducing it through rising national savings rates.

Savings-rich countries, notably China, have not helped. To get the global economy in better balance they needed to reduce exports by revaluing their currencies and encouraging domestic demand. Instead,the second, third and fourth largest economies in the world have continued to increase their net exports, thwarting recovery in the United States, Britain and southern Europe. This economic imbalance, say Dumas and Choyleva, is going to cause another global economic crunch.

And afterwards? Perhaps surprisingly, but with impeccable reasoning, Dumas and Choyleva go on to argue that America will emerge from the slump in the strongest shape, China will struggle unless it takes steps to tackle its structural problems, Eurozone countries like Spain, Portugal and Greece are in for a depressing decade, while Britain, because of its labour market and exchange rate flexibility, will be in better shape to emulate America's recovery. Uznano je za bezpowrotnie w wojennej zawierusze stracone. Pogodzono się z tym, że nasza wiedza o nich została zredukowana do kilku fotografii i szkiców. A jednak od czasu do czasu wbrew tej logice ktoś mówi “... odszukam” i co najciekawsze – znajduje. Takie przesłanie bedzie też miała pierwsza nasza opowieść.

W drugiej połowie lat 30 ubiegłego wieku większość europejskich armii wchodziła w nową epokę wojennych technologii. Kawalerzyści żegnali się z końmi, piechota wsiadała na czołgi. W tej atmosferze rychło okazało się, że potrzebny jest nowy typ pojazdu dla sztabów, radiostacji i patroli wysyłanych na przedpole. Sztab Generalny Wojska Polskiego owego czasu świetnie współpracował ze środowiskami naukowymi. Efektem tej współpracy był prototyp samochodu terenowego stworzony w Państwowych Zakładach Inżynierii w Warszawie. Był to pojazd o doskonałych własnościach terenowych. Powstało kilkanaście takich prototypów o różnych wersjach nadwoziowych. Najciekawszą bodaj był projekt samochodu pancernego z 4mm oblachowaniem i karabinem maszynowym umieszczonym na lawecie. Produkcja pojazdu miała ruszyć w roku 1940. Ten projekt polskich inżynierów wyprzedzał w tamtym czasie światową technikę. A my z niecierpliwością oczekiwać będziemy pełnej rekonstrukcji prezentowanego egzemplarza.

Kolejnym miejscem naszych poszukiwań będzie wieś Wytyczno. Regionalista Adam Panasiuk spisał historię okolic tej miejscowości niemalże od pradziejów po próg współczesności. W tej opowieści znaleźliśmy historię intrygującą każdego poszukiwacza. Złoto – zakopane w tych okolicach w czasie I wojny światowej przez Rosjan wycofujących się z Wereszczyna...

Globalna recesja kosztowała świat kilkadziesiąt miliardów dolarów. Pozbawiła pracy 30 mln osób i podwoiła dług narodowy USA. Ludzie potracili majątki, spadła wartość ich nieruchomości. Czy największe od czasu Wielkiego Kryzysu załamanie rynków finansowych w 2008 r. było przypadkiem? A jeśli nie, czy można było temu zapobiec? Na oba te pytania twórcy nagrodzonego Oscarem dokumentu „Inside Job” Charlesa Fergusona znają odpowiedzi, a przedstawione przez nich fakty szokują.

Film jest wyjątkowo ostrą, solidnie udokumentowaną mową oskarżycielską pod adresem elit politycznych i przemysłu finansowego Stanów Zjednoczonych, które od 30 lat beztrosko rozmontowywały system bankowy. Deregulacja rozpoczęła się za rządów Reagana pogwałceniem ustawy, która zabraniała bankom oszczędnościowym angażować się w działalność inwestycyjną. Wzrosła korupcja i przestępstwa finansowe. Rigss Bank prał brudne pieniądze Pinocheta, Credit Suisse przekazywał środki na irański program nuklearny, Citibank wyprowadził z Meksyku 100 mln dol. z handlu narkotykami.

Pod koniec lat 90. wymyślono sekurytyzację, czyli nowe produkty spekulacyjne, łączące kredyty hipoteczne z innymi kredytami, które sprzedawano inwestorom jako pewne i bezpieczne, choć wcale takie nie były. Zyski bankierów szły w miliardy, chciwość rosła. Maklerzy grali na Wall Street przeciwko swoim klientom. Tych, co ostrzegali przed nieuchronną katastrofą, wyrzucano z pracy albo pozbawiano premii. Największe wrażenie robią jednak w filmie końcowe wnioski. W 2009 r., kiedy bezrobocie było najwyższe od 17 lat, Morgan Stanley wypłacił pracownikom ponad 14 mld dol., a Goldman Sachs ponad 16 mld. W 2010 r. premie były jeszcze większe. W administracji Baracka Obamy posady otrzymali ludzie odpowiedzialni za kryzys. Do tej pory nikomu nie postawiono zarzutów kryminalnych. Nikogo nie zatrzymano.
