Leslie H. Martinson Director de cine estadounidense nacido en Boston en 1923.
Nació en el seno de una familia judía de origen lituano y alemán. Estudió en el conservatorio de su ciudad natal y trabajó durante algún tiempo en el departamento de publicidad de un periódico. En 1936 marchó a Hollywood y trabajó durante quince años en el departamento de guiones de la Metro Goldwyn Mayer. En 1952 abandonó la Metro para dirigir episodios de la serie de televisión The Roy Rogers Show. Al año siguiente comenzó a dirigir películas para la productora de "serie B" Republic con The atomic kid (1954), una comedia ciencia-ficción interpretada por Mickey Rooney y basada en una historia de Blake Edwards. Dirigió algunas películas de escaso presupuesto dedicadas al público juvenil, pero su carrera se centró principalmente en la televisión, medio para el cual dirigió un enorme número de series y películas. Su proyecto más ambicioso en la pantalla grande y su película más conocida fue PT-109 (1963), basada en las experiencias del entonces presidente John F. Kennedy como teniente de navío durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial; estuvo protagonizada por Cliff Robertson, elegido para el papel por el propio Kennedy. Gracias a su experiencia en la televisión, Martinson dirigió Batman (1966), apresurada adaptación cinematográfica de una de las series de mayor éxito del momento. Durante los años setenta dirigió algunas películas de acción, pero se decantó definitivamente por la televisión al final de la década.
