Gus Meins (2)

Gus Meins (6 de marzo de 1893 - 1 de agosto de 1940 como Gustave Peter Ludwig Luley) fue un director de cine alemán-estadounidense. Nació en Frankfurt, Alemania.

Biografía
Meins fue conocido en sus inicios como el director de varias series de cortos del cine mudo, incluso las comedias de Buster Brown de los años veinte. Aunque es más conocido como director senior de las comedias Our Gang de Hal Roach de 1934 a 1936, y también como director de Babes in Toyland de Laurel y Hardy. Su asistente de dirección era un joven Gordon Douglas, que se convirtió en director senior en 1936 cuando Meins dejó Our Gang para realizar otros trabajos de dirección en Roach. Meins dejó Roach en 1937 por diferencias creativas.

En el verano de 1940, Meins se enfrentó al enjuiciamiento de "acusaciones morales" al ser acusado de delitos sexuales contra seis jóvenes. Se fue de su casa la noche del jueves 1 de agosto, diciéndole a su hijo, Douglas: "Probablemente no me volverás a ver".
