The story of an improbable romance between a cosmopolitan career woman and a small-town fisherman. When sophisticated New York journalist Edith Iglauer is assigned to go to British Columbia to write a frivolous piece on the fishing industry, she butts heads with local fisherman and notorious loner, John Daly. While she thrives on the fast-paced life of Manhattan, he loathes pretension and could go days without speaking to anyone. But when the two are caught in a perilous situation, they are forced to put aside their pettiness and re-examine their lives. With external factors stripped away, they begin to fall in love. Ultimately, Edith must decide between staying in the glamorous world she has always cherished or leaving it all behind for a chance at love.

A 1989 series starring Jaclyn Smith as Christine Cromwell. The mystery television series was based in San Francisco which only lasted one season. Its cast included such esteemed actors as Celeste Holm (as Christine Cromwell's oft-married mother) and Theodore Bikel. Christine Cromwell was part of ABC's "Mystery Wheel" series which rotated with other detective shows like Columbo, Kojak and Burt Reynolds' "B.L. Stryker". Smith's show had the distinction of being the only female character of the wheel.
The two-hour show, a “spoke” in the “ABC Saturday Mystery Movie” wheel, aired monthly. It was Smith’s first series since “Charlie’s Angels” folded in 1981.
Celeste Holm co-starred as Christine’s socialite mother and Theodore Bikel, Mel Ferrer and Richard Bradford played the older woman’s ex-husbands, whom Christine regularly called upon for advice.
Critics hailed the supporting cast as the best thing about an otherwise forgettable show.
“Each of the character actors blows the star out of the water,” wrote Newsday’s Marvin Kitman, who also suggested Holm could play Jessica Fletcher if ever Angela Lansbury quit “Murder, She Wrote.”
