Imagion AG announced that it has authored “Grand Canyon Adventure: 3D Edition,” the first European Blu-ray 3D disc. The title is being showcased at the MEDIA-TECH Global Expo and Summit in Frankfurt and will be available in German stores at the end of June 2010 through Eurovideo. According to the statement, Imagion is the only European authoring studio officially certified by the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA), with the Commercial Audiovisual Content Agreement for the production of Blu-ray 3D discs. Imagion offers a full range of services for the production of Blu-ray 3D discs for the home entertainment market, including 3D menu design, subtitling, video encoding, authoring, BD-Java (BD-J) programming and quality control. Imagion offers these services to studios and content owners as well as replicators and authoring studios that are currently not investing in the new technology. “One more time we wanted to demonstrate that we are market leaders in terms of innovation and quality. We are especially proud to be able to release such an outstanding film in the 3D Blu-ray format. ‘Grand Canyon Adventure’ was created for IMAX 3D theaters using special 8K resolution workflows maintaining incredible detail and sharpness.
