In 1970 after graduating from Waseda University , studied under Akira Kurosawa and served as an assistant for 28 years. As a photographer, I was also in charge of stills in the ATG movie "Rising Voyeur" supervised by Ichikawa Kun. As a director of Heisei debut, I became the only person who could serve these two directly.
After the death of Kurosawa, he made his movie scenario " Rain leaves " as a movie (released in 2000 ) and makes a directorial debut. In this work we received the Green Lion Award of the Venice International Film Festival , the 8th division including the work prize at the Japan Academy Awards . In addition , " 2002 Amidaddo than " but also received the Japan Academy Prize two categories . wiki
