This book is a definite 'MUST HAVE' for WWII enthusiasts. Of particular interest are two plates illustrating individual and unit equipment of the German soldiers during the years 1939-1941.

The extensive text offers a commentary on the historical context and background, as well as about the uniforms, attire and weaponry of the combatants. Large colorful illustrations produced by a variety of talented artists portray interesting aspects of clothing and weapons for the benefit of the reader. This means there is a very helpful and informative combination of text and artwork to inspire the reader. This fascinating book, "Age of Conquerors", succeeds in bringing history to life!

The warlord is the cult of the personality turned into a military force. The eastern Roman Empire based around Constantinople becomes known as the Byzantine Empire, it remained a potent force throughout the Middle Ages until the 15th century. Its greatest challenge came from the advent of Islam in the 7th century. The Byzantine Empire stood as a bulwark against Muslim expansion throughout the period when Western warriors fought against Islamic warriors in a series of crusader campaigns aimed to capture the holy sites. Outside the conflicts between Christianity and Islam, Vikings, Mongols, Turkic warriors and other barbarian raiders descended upon Christian settlements and rampaged them. Eventually the Age of the Crusades ended when the Ottoman Turks defeated the Byzantine Empire.
