Modern Mayhem.pdf

The magical items, devices, contraptions, thing-a-ma-jigs, whirly-gigs, machines, and stuff within are touchy, delicate things. Without a really strong understanding of where they come from or how they work, these items all have the possibility of backfiring on their user. They rely on instability dice to model this. Some start with larger dice and are progressively whittled down to smaller dice, with catastrophe occurring when a ‘1’ is rolled. Others are watching for duplicate numbers or use increasingly larger dice while waiting for the player to roll over a certain number. Regardless the specific rules, these items are powerful but the more they are used, the riskier they become...
