PICO-8

PICO-8 to wirtualna maszyna i silnik gry stworzony przez Lexaloffle Games. Jest to "fantasy console" do gier wideo, która naśladuje ograniczone możliwości graficzne i dźwiękowe starych 8-bitowych systemów z lat 80-tych, aby zachęcić do kreatywności i pomysłowości w tworzeniu gier bez przytłoczenia wieloma możliwościami nowoczesnych narzędzi i maszyn. Takie ograniczenia nadają również grom PICO-8 szczególny wygląd i styl.

Program PICO-8 integruje edytor kodu Lua, narzędzia do tworzenia sprite'ów i map oraz edytor efektów dźwiękowych i muzyki. Program może ładować gry zapisane lokalnie na komputerze, w postaci tekstu lub jako specjalnie zakodowane obrazy .png.

Jako "fantasy console", PICO-8 nie ma oficjalnego sprzętu, na którym bazuje, a wszystkie jego ograniczenia są czysto emulowane. Hobbyści komputerów homebrew i sprzętu ogólnie próbują dopasować PICO-8 do urządzeń z niższej półki. PICO-8 ma oficjalny obraz dla Raspberry Pi i CHIP (dostarczany preinstalowany w Pocket CHIP), a społeczności udało się bezpośrednio uruchomić oficjalne oprogramowanie lub gry za pośrednictwem emulatorów PICO-8 dostępnych w RetroArch na innych komputerach jednopłytkowych.

Chociaż nie jest możliwe uruchomienie samego PICO-8 na urządzeniach, które nie są co najmniej i386/amd64 lub ARM-64 ze względu na kilka bibliotek, ludziom udało się emulować gry p8 na różnych tanich konsolach przenośnych za pośrednictwem emulatorów open source, takich jak Fake-08 i tac08, które mogą działać nawet na urządzeniach opartych na 32-bitowych mikrokontrolerach (w szczególności ESP32).

Fantasy video game console (lub po prostu "fantasy console") to emulator fikcyjnej konsoli do gier wideo. Krótko mówiąc, ma on na celu stworzenie doświadczenia retrogamingu bez konieczności emulowania prawdziwej konsoli, pozwalając deweloperowi swobodnie decydować, jakie specyfikacje będzie miał jego fikcyjny sprzęt.

Yug is a Porter, a gatekeeper to the underground city. They don’t pay him enough to live IN the city, so he lives outside where it is dark and dangerous… but he LOVES it outside!! Help Yug get to work by jumping, dodging and teleporting your way to safety! I hear if Yug clocks in early enough he might get a raise…

In Porter, you play as Yug who may teleport and jump. If Yug teleports into a wall, Yug dies. If Yug jumps into spikes, Yug dies. The goal is to use Yugs teleportation and jump to get to the yellow coin in each level.

I present to you PICOHOT a homage to the original SUPERHOT game.

This whole idea got born out of a marketing concept in which we planned to fit a game on a floppy disc. Someone came with a brilliant idea to use PICO-8 for that. We loved both the retro feel and ease of use that came with this tool. Technological constraints made it an intriguing design challenge.

PICOHOT was created by team of 3 people - me (Piotr), Wojcieh Dziedzic (@WojtekDziedzic) and Mariusz Tarkowski (@m_tarkovsky).

Welcome to Manbomber, an explosive homage to the old-time multiplayer classic made with PICO-8! In this game, your goal is to drop bombs on the battlefield to eliminate all other players in time and be the last manbomber standing.

The game can be played with up to 4 players battling each other. While in the 2-player mode, both players can use the same keyboard to control their manbomber, a controller for each player is required for all other modes. Any Controller which can be connected to your device will do!

So grab a couple of friends, choose one of the three battlefields and blast off!

This is a port of my windows adaptation of the classic "paper and pen" game Paddocks or Boxes as some know it by.

Paddix is a 2-player game, each player takes turns building fences between the posts in the main paddock, once all four sides of a smaller paddock have been built, the paddock is claimed by the player that placed the fourth fence and a point is awarded.

Once all the paddocks have been claimed, the game is over with the player that has the most points as the winner.

The winner will gain control and steer towards salvation, while the loser faces inevitable explosion.
Tension rises with each point, as survival is at stake.
Who will emerge victorious in this cosmic battle?

Touch the flashing creatures (bats, rat and skull) to energize your knight in order to slay all the guardians (Dragon, Sorcerers and Demons). Collect and use at your advantage the magic objects that appear (details in the manual above or in the Pause/Enter menu choose "CHEAT SHEET" for a quick in-game help).
