In 1928, Georges Bataille published this first novel under a pseudonym, a legendary shocker that uncovers the dark side of the erotic by means of forbidden obsessive fantasies of excess and sexual extremes. A classic of pornographic literature, Story of the Eye finds the parallels in Sade and Nietzsche and in the investigations of contemporary psychology; it also forecasts Bataille's own theories of ecstasy, death and transgression which he developed in later work.
Only Georges Bataille could write, of an eyeball removed from a corpse, that "the caress of the eye over the skin is so utterly, so extraordinarily gentle, and the sensation is so bizarre that it has something of a rooster's horrible crowing." Bataille has been called a "metaphysician of evil," specializing in blasphemy, profanation, and horror. Story of the Eye, written in 1928, is his best-known work; it is unashamedly surrealistic, both disgusting and fascinating, and packed with seemingly endless violations. It's something of an underground classic, rediscovered by each new generation. Most recently, the Icelandic pop singer Björk Guðdmundsdóttir cites Story of the Eye as a major inspiration: she made a music video that alludes to Bataille's erotic uses of eggs, and she plans to read an excerpt for an album. Warning: Story of the Eye is graphically sexual, and is only for adults who are not easily offended.

In the opening scene of this movie, a Japanese "schoolgirl" is walking alone on the subway and is snatched by a pervert(dressed in lederhosen for some reason). He takes her back to his hideout where he has several more high school girls tied up. This new arrival turns out to be an undercover cop, however, and she dispatches the pervert with her two weapons--her yo-yo and her see-through panties (the yo-yo is actually a good weapon, but aside from their obvious exploitation value, I'm not so sure about the see-through panties). It turns out the character "Saki" aka "Yo-Yo" aka "Agent See-Through Panties" is a former girl-gang leader who is being forced to work undercover (and wear see-through panties) by the police who have arrested her drug-addict/prostitute mother. For her next assignment she is sent undercover to break up a prostitution ring at the local high school.

Obviously, this is a lot more exploitative than realistic. "Saki" is supposed to be both a female gang boss AND a virgin, but the model-pretty actress who plays her doesn't look remotely like either. For an undercover operative, she also sticks put like a sore thumb in her "new" high school since she insists on wearing the wrong uniform, yelling at her classmates, and fighting with the girls in the dominant clique (her see-through panties don't help either). As usual in Japanese exploitation films, the males at the school are all clueless dorks and/or incorrigible lechers, and both the female "teachers" and the "students" are all played by twenty-year-old girls with perfect bodies (not that I have anything against twenty-year-old Japanese girls with perfect bodies).

I've been checking out a lot of Japanese "pink" films from the 1960's up to the present day ever since reading Jasper Sharp's excellent book "Behind the Pink Curtain". Some are actually pretty good, some aren't so good but are genuinely erotic, and some are neither good nor very erotic but are so weird and perverted they're kind of interesting nevertheless. This definitely doesn't make the first category, but it falls somewhere between the second and the third. If you want to take that as a recommendation, have at it. . .

Frigga żyje na wiejskiej farmie wraz ze swymi rodzicami. Dziewczyna jest niemową, co jest skutkiem szoku wywołanego przez dokonany na niej w dzieciństwie gwałt. Akcja filmu rozgrywa się kilkanaście lat po tym wydarzeniu. Frigga poznaje młodego, przystojnego i bogatego Tony'ego, któremu w dodatku nie przeszkadza to, że dziewczyna jest niema. Niestety czarujący z pozoru chłopak okazuje się bezlitosnym gangsterem i po randce dziewczyna budzi sie naszprycowana narkotykami w domu publicznym. Próba oporu kończy się tragicznie - Tony wyłupuje dziewczynie oko i uświadamia ją, że jest uzależniona od bardzo silnego narkotyku i w razie ucieczki czeka ją pewna śmierć. Frigga zostaje więc zmuszona do prostytucji, jednak w tajemnicy szykuje krwawą i bezlitosną zemstę na zwyrodnialcu.
Ten film obrósł prawdziwą legendą. Banowany raz za razem przez niestrudzonych szwedzkich cenzorów, doczekał się kilku wersji. „Thriller: a Cruel Picture” stał się kultowy właśnie dlatego, że był w Szwecji pierwszym filmem całkowicie zbanowanym, przez co o mały włos nie znalazł się na strychu historii kinematografii. Jego pierwotna wersja, licząca 107 minut była nie do zaakceptowania.. i to w całości! Później film przycięto do 104 minut, potem do 86, a w końcu stanęło na 82 minutach. Tylko dzięki temu zdecydowano się dać zielone światło temu szwedzkiemu obrazowi.

Another sign of the growing acceptance of the pinku eiga film as more than just a national curiosity, this large scale co-production involving three studios -- Fujii Movies, Ogawa Productions, and Takechi Film -- was meant as the return to form of the grandfather of the genre, Tetsuji Takechi. Set in Nagasaki in the late 1800s, the film is a bizarre mixture of erotic, historical, and horrific elements aided immeasurably by Takechi's direction and an all-star cast led by Takako Shinozuka as Ayame, a courtesan who attracts the attention of street vendor Kisuke (Satoshi Mashiba) and decides to run away with him to America. Unfortunately, a crazed tattoo artist is obsessed with Ayame's perfect skin as a potential canvas, so he kills Kisuke to keep Ayame in Japan. Later, Ayame is sold to a brothel in Yokohama. Kisuke's ghost possesses her, causing his image to appear tattoo-like on her skin whenever she has sex. Eventually, after much pining and romantic weirdness, Ayame tells the lovesick ghost to get over her and move on to Heaven so she can do her job in peace. Nostalgic and sentimental in the extreme, Oiran may not be exactly what audiences were expecting, but it is a fine entertainment. Seeing as Takechi's battles with the censors from Hakujitsumu and the infamous Kuroi Yuki case to the scandal surrounding his 1981 remake of Hakujitsumu were legendary, it should come as no surprise that the government ratings board insisted on numerous cuts. The bitterness of his battles finally drove the director to hardcore where his unique visions could be fully explored.

The cinematography is appealing, colorful, and contains a lot of black space for effect… It creates a world filled with shadows and only an occasional bright spot… The bedroom is bathed in golden light…
