Extremely bizarre Jess Franco flick about an actress (Lina Romay) who puts on sex shows with a story involving aliens who kidnap girls and knock them up. The first gag is that the women, due to the super sperm, can deliver 600 babies an hour. The second gag is that real aliens see this and decide to get in on the action. This is probably the best sex comedy I've seen from Franco but I had to view it in Spanish without any subs so with subs I might like it even more. Romay, when she's not showing off her sex talent, can be very funny with a light comic touch and she gets to deliver that several times throughout the film. The sex scenes are all very soft and it's rather funny seeing Franco, a sex director, show why "sex is crazy" to look at. The alien make up at the start of the film is cheap but very effective looking.

While Seward tries to track Dracula with his nose, Dracula manages to knock off a few cast members -- a faux Dracula, Bela, an acrobot with orange hair, and both Komrades Ivan and Irina. When Dracula tries to bite Silvia during a performance, Dr Seward decides to use Silvia as bait. He sends her out walking alone. When Dracula follows, they pursue and stake him. Dracula metamorphs into a white rabbit and hops away.

Franco mixes the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly…usually in the same film. This one appears to be rather obscure and its' occasional funny moment will most likely appeal to Francophiles everywhere.

Jess Franco goes the de Sade route again with this film, which is a remake of similar films from 1969 and 1970 (among others). In this version, a perverted couple (Robert Foster, Mabel Escano) stalk a young teenage girl named Eugenie (Katja Bienert) and eventually take her to their island where they try to deflower her. Franco has countless credits to his name and many times he remakes his own films. In some cases, as here, he remakes them several times. I was really looking forward to this film because both earlier versions are among the directors best work but the story here doesn't quite flow as well. The first forty-minutes of the film we see the couple stalking the young girl who is usually walking around totally naked. Franco makes a lot of this very erotic but after a while it grows tiresome and by the time they hit the island, you know where the story is going and the psychedelic sexual scenes come off rather lame whereas in the earlier films they were quite disturbing and freakish. I've never been a fan of Foster so his presence here doesn't do much for me and Escano doesn't work either. Lina Romay plays a sex slave who thinks she's a dog but she doesn't add anything. Katja Bienert is the one who comes off the best but I'm sure many will have a problem with her nudity and sexual situations since, according to the birthdate she gave, she's only fifteen here. Check out Eugenie de Sade and Eugenie...The Story of Her Journey Into Perversion instead as they show Franco, this story and the eroticism at their peak.

milsex.jpg"Mil Sexos Tiene La Noche" is yet another first-rate Jess Franco film, again shot on a very low budget with the director getting the maximum from the location, his photography, and his stable of actors. Much of the film appears to have been filmed in or near a hotel, a common staple of many Franco films, and to keep the viewer's eyes from being bored by all of the darkness Franco treats us to beautifully-filmed bodies of water, bodies of lovemakers, flower gardens, indoor scenery, and human silhouettes. Other than Franco, the other strong element of the film is Lina Romay, who, as usual, gives a performance so convincing and thoughtful you'd think her life was at stake if she failed to deliver. She goes from being dowdy and frumpy in some scenes to being a sometimes frightened, sometimes stunningly beautiful protagonist. As this film is a remake of Franco's "Voodoo Passion" (1977) the plot is not difficult to comprehend, and non-Spanish-speaking viewers should not be offput because 64 of the film's 92 minutes have no dialog whatsoever. This was probably filmed simultaneously with Franco's "Historia Sexual de O" as, in the opening scene of "Mil Sexos . . ." three of the actors are wearing the same clothes they wear in the menacing dinner-table scene of "Historia Sexual. . ." Carmen Carrion and Daniel Katz, who appear in both films, are perfectly cast as totally evil users of the weaker-minded in both films, and both deliver suitably frightening performances.

I like it so much because even though it has similar characters and plot to the original GRITOS (which was, after all heavily influenced by Georges Franju's LES YEUX SANS VISAGE-1959) it has a visual style and mood all its own. Very oppressive ambiance highlighted by the Pablo Villa/Jess Franco score which the director himself performs on a synthesizer. Long deep, Goth organ chords which are synthed into shrieks not unlike thos of the hookers kidnapped and experimented on by the SON of Dr. Orloff, effectively played by Antonio Mayans.

That’s an achievement in itself.

Instead, it is one of Franco's several movies inspired from and loosely based on Sade's Philosophy in the Boudoir. This is quite unlike some of Franco's better known kitsch sleaze flicks. It is a deliberately slow-paced, minimalist piece of erotica. Yes, there are quite a lot of (soft-core) sex, three-some, lesbian, etc., scenes esp. in the first 2/3rds of the movie, and yet despite the presence of these skin scenes, the movie is a very uncommercial and personal effort. The victim's eventual descent into being a prey of the predatory aristocrats from cherishing a chance at free sex experience is very well executed and the final sado-orgy is terrifyingly nightmarish.
