1. sudo apt-get install xrdp
2. sudo apt-get install mate-core mate-desktop-environment mate-notification-daemon
3. configure /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh as WORKING_startwm.sh
sudo gedit /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh
4. WIFI issue: create a pkla file under /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local-d
sudo service xrdp restart

you can use ubuntu-desktop as xrdp if you create a separate user
sudo xauth merge ~/.Xauthority ##fixes sudo gedit problem
