LEGO The Lord of the Rings jest kolejną częścią niezwykle popularnego cyklu gier dla osób w każdym wieku, w których możemy przenieść się do światów znanych z popularnych serii filmów, przedstawionych z wykorzystaniem słynnych duńskich klocków. Gra została stworzona przez brytyjskie studio Traveller’s Tales, które w przeszłości opracowało wiele tytułów nawiązujących do kreskówek lub postaci animowanych (jak chociażby jeż Sonic). Deweloper od dłuższego czasu zajmuje się przede wszystkim tworzeniem gier na licencji LEGO (np. LEGO Pirates of the Carribean lub seria LEGO Harry Potter). W przypadku LEGO The Lord of The Rings na platformę Android mamy do czynienia z tytułem ściśle wzorującym się na ekranizacjach trylogii Tolkiena w reżyserii Petera Jacksona. Tak jak w książkowych i kinowych pierwowzorach, gracz ma na celu zniszczenie Pierścienia jako jeden z dziewięciu członków drużyny, kierowanej początkowo przez maga Gandalfa Szarego. W grze wcielamy się w wielu doskonale znanych bohaterów i odgrywamy pamiętne sceny w kolejnych misjach kampanii głównej. Produkcja przeznaczona na platformę Android podzielona jest na etapy, podczas których odwiedzamy lokacje ze wszystkich trzech części produkcji Jacksona. Są wśród nich m.in. Bag End, głębiny Morii wraz z mostem Khazad Dum, a także Helmowy Jar, Bramy Mordoru oraz Góra Przeznaczenia. Niestety, większość z nich została skrócona i zubożona pod względem liczby zadań w stosunku do konsolowo-pecetowego oryginału. Niższy, a to z uwagi na większą liniowość rozgrywki, jest też poziom trudności. Oczywiście w grze spotykamy większość znanych z trylogii Tolkiena postaci – w sumie autorzy przygotowali około 90 grywalnych bohaterów. Wśród nich jest kilka niepojawiających się w filmach Jacksona, np. Tom Bombadil. Misje obfitują w zrealizowane z dużą porcją humoru nawiązania do filmów. Zawierają też liczne elementy zręcznościowe i wiele zagadek logicznych. Mobilna konwersja LEGO The Lord of The Rings w wersji na platformę Android odbiega zauważalnie poziomem grafiki od konsolowo-pecetowego oryginału, aczkolwiek trójwymiarowa warstwa wizualna i tak potrafi cieszyć oko. Pochwała należy się przy tym za obecność przerywników filmowych, odwzorowujących sceny z filmowej trylogii. W charakterze ścieżki dźwiękowej został użyty soundtrack z dzieł Jacksona, za który odpowiada Howard Shore. Małą rewolucją w serii są dialogi – po raz pierwszy postaci nie tylko mówią, zamiast pomrukiwać, lecz używają też oryginalnych tekstów.
