Jim Miller and Gleison Tibau were set to fight at this event, but the bout was later moved to UFC Fight Night: Marquardt vs. Palhares the following month, where Miller won by unanimous decision.
Two bouts were moved to this event due to visa issues; Paul Kelly vs. Jacob Volkmann from UFC 116 and Darren Elkins vs. Charles Oliveira from The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale.
Joe Stevenson suffered a knee injury in training and was unable to fight Takanori Gomi. Stevenson was replaced by Tyson Griffin.
Willamy Freire also suffered an injury in training, forcing the cancellation of his fight with Thiago Tavares. Tavares was then pulled from the card altogether.
"Big" John McCarthy was a referee at this event, the first time he has refereed at a UFC event in almost 3 years.
Damarques Johnson originally weighed in at 172.5 pounds, 1.5 pounds over the contracted weight limit. After being granted one hour to make the original 171 pound limit, Johnson tipped the scales at 172 pounds. As a result, Johnson forfeited 20% of his purse for the fight.
The event drew an estimated 991,000 viewers on Versus.

This will be UFC's last event of the year. In the main event the champion Junior Dos Santos fought Cain Velasquez for the heavyweight championship. The first time that they met each other inside the octagon Dos Santos was able to KO Velasquez and become the UFC champion. After losing to Dos Santos, Velasquez had a great performance against Antonio Silva that earned him a title shot. Dos Santos did a good job stuffing Velasquez's takedowns throughout the fight, but took a hard punch in the first round that he never seemed to fully recover from. Velasquez kept pressure on dos Santos for all 5 rounds but was unable to finish him. Velasquez won a unanimous decision and the UFC heavyweight title.

Chael Sonnen was supposed to face Forrest Griffin but he got an offer to participate on the next American TUF against Jones. Then Griffin was set to fight Phil Davis who was coming off a win over Wagner Prado at UFC 153. Griffin was injured before the fight, and the bout was scrapped. Added in its place was the Melvin Guillard vs Jamie Varner, rescheduled from the TUF 16 Finale after Varner pulled out the day of the event due to illness. Varner defeated Guillard by split decision.

Chris Weidman vs Tim Boetsch was booked for this card, but Weidman had to pull out with an injury and was replaced by Costa Philippou. Philippou upset Boetsch by 3rd round TKO.

After canceling a title fight twice against Jose Aldo, Erik Koch was scheduled to face Ricardo Lamas at UFC 155, but the bout was rescheduled for UFC on FOX 6.

After losing four out of his last five fights, former Light Heavyweight Champion and Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell appeared to have fought his last battle inside the Octagon. But after Liddell campaigned hard for one more shot in the promotion, the call came from Dana White for "The Iceman" to coach opposite old rival Tito Ortiz on TUF 11. As is standard practice following the TUF season, the two would then battle it out in a third go inside the cage.

Liddell accepted and the season moved underway. Midway through the filming, however, Ortiz was forced to back out of the fight due to persistent neck and back problems. Rich Franklin, the UFC’s go-to guy for catch-weight and short notice bouts, stepped in and promptly knocked Liddell out cold in the first round of UFC 115. Following yet another KO loss, most believed Liddell's storied MMA career had, this time, truly come to an end.

In a triumphant return to form for the UFC following some of the most dismal Pay Per View efforts in recent company history, UFC 111, featuring the Welterweight Championship fight between Georges St-Pierre and Dan Hardy, drew approximately 850,000 buys. Also featured was an Interim Heavyweight Championship fight between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir. St-Pierre defeated Hardy by Unanimous Decision, while Carwin made Mir his twelfth consecutive first-round knockout victim.

The main event fight between St-Pierre and Hardy marked the second time a UFC Primetime series was produced, which followed the two fighters in their training and personal lives leading up to the event. This was the first time a British fighter had challenged for a UFC belt.

Opis:
Film uważany za jeden z najlepszych horrorów anime. Tytułowy D to łowca wampirów, syn kobiety i mężczyzny-wampira. Pewnego dnia D. zostaje wezwany do posiadłości Johna Elourne'a, zamożnego mieszczanina, którego córka została uprowadzona przez wampira Meyera Linka. Although it was not hampered by the rash of injuries that January’s UFC 108 was, UFC 109 was nevertheless one of the lowest-performing Pay Per View efforts of the year, drawing just 275,000 buys due to a weak main event between Randy Couture and Mark Coleman and a middleweight contender’s bout between Nate Marquardt and Chael Sonnen that drew little interest. Couture defeated Coleman handily in the main event, bouncing the aging “Grandaddy of Ground and Pound” from the promotion, while Sonnen earned himself a title shot by grinding out a Unanimous Decision against Marquardt in an upset victory.

Originally, a Middleweight title bout between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort was planned for the event, but Silva withdrew due to elbow surgery. Sonnen immediately began campaigning for his title shot by publicly bashing Silva in his post-fight comments to drum up interest in the matchup. The ploy worked, and Sonnen was soon granted his title bout with “The Spider.”

After a string of underperforming Pay Per View efforts from UFC 102-106 due largely to a rash of fighter injuries, UFC 107’s Lightweight Championship fight between BJ Penn and Diego Sanchez, coupled with a heavyweight battle between hype machine Frank Mir and Cheick Kongo, drew a healthy 620,000 buys for the UFC.

In the main event, Penn thoroughly outclassed Sanchez before finishing him with a TKO due to a cut inflicted by a vicious head kick in the final round, while Mir returned to form by knocking down and choking out Kongo in the co-main event.

Though it was moderately successful Pay Per View terms, drawing approximately 375,000 buys, UFC 106 marked the beginning of the worst rash of bad luck due to fighter unavailability the UFC has ever experienced. Originally, Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was set to defend his title against Shane Carwin, but a frighteningly dangerous battle with diverticulitis sidelined the champion until midway into 2010. In response, the UFC promoted a rematch between Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin to the main event. In a reversal of their first bout from 2006, Griffin won a Split Decision over Ortiz.

The rash of injuries would continue for the next several months, resulting in some of the most dismal Pay Per View buy rates—with the exception of UFC 107—in modern UFC history.

In the main event, Nate Diaz, winner of TUF 5, defeated Melvin Guillard, while fellow TUF 5 contestant Gray Maynard defeated Roger Huerta by Split Decision. In 2010, Maynard and Diaz would be matched up with one another, with Maynard winning a close and controversial Split Decision.

The card marked the final UFC appearance of Roger Huerta, as he opted not to re-sign with the promotion following contract issues and personal conflicts with the UFC brass.

Although both Randy Couture and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira had been beaten badly in their previous fights, it was Nogueira who most fans questioned for having enough gas in the tank left to take on a wrestler as tough and durable as Couture. Three rounds later, Nogueira had answered all of the questions, bludgeoning Couture to earn a Unanimous Decision in one of the best fights of the year.

Although he was competitive in defeat, Couture decided to make the move back down to 205lbs. following back-to-back losses to much larger and heavier men while competing at heavyweight.

In one of the weaker Pay Per View cards of the year, former Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson edged out TUF veteran Keith Jardine to gain the Unanimous Decision nod in the main event of UFC 96, while undefeated heavyweight contender Shane Carwin emerged as a title hopeful with a first-round knockout of respected heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga.

Following the main event, Rashad Evans, training partner of Jardine and then-Light Heavyweight Champion, entered the cage and publicly challenged Jackson. The war of words escalated quickly as bluster gave way to raw emotion with Joe Rogan holding the mic between the two. It resulted in a long-standing feud between the two that would not be settled until 2010.

After establishing himself as top dog in the division, Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre had one major hurdle remaining in order to be put on equal footing with Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva in terms of pound-for-pound glory. That hurdle came in the form of Lightweight Champion BJ Penn, whom St-Pierre had defeated three years earlier in a razor-thin Split Decision.

The showdown was one of the most hyped fights in MMA history. It featured the first-ever edition of UFC Primetime, a weekly documentary series that followed the training habits and personal lives of the two champions leading up to the fight. When fight night finally came St-Pierre dominated, battering Penn over four rounds before the Hawaiian’s corner threw in the towel.

After the fight, Penn’s camp openly accused St-Pierre’s camp of cheating, as corner man Phil Nurse had rubbed Vaseline on St-Pierre’s back and shoulders between rounds. The bad blood between the two champions has still not been settled.

After a successful light heavyweight return to form against Matt Hamill in September of 2008, former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich Franklin took a step up in competition by fighting Dan Henderson at 205lbs. in the main event of UFC 93, which was the first UFC event of 2009. In a razor-close decision that is disputed to this day, Henderson defeated Franklin and earned himself a coaching spot opposite the U.K.’s Michael Bisping on TUF 9.

In the co-main event, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua got back into the win column by avenging his loss to Mark Coleman with a third-round TKO that featured both men heavily winded.

The main event between Franklin and Henderson drew some controversy, as Henderson not only accidentally head butted Franklin during the fight, but also gouged his eye, which required surgery, in the third and final round.

In a rare feat even for the world’s top MMA promotion, the UFC generated over 1 Million Pay Per View buys for the second consecutive event with UFC 92, which featured three of the most anticipated fights of the year: a Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans; an Interim Heavyweight Championship bout between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira; and a grudge match between former Pride superstars Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Wanderlei Silva.

Evans took the title from Griffin in what was the first-ever championship fight between two former TUF winners/contestants, Mir became the first man to finish Nogueira in a professional fight (though Nogueira was less than 100% heading into the bout), and Jackson took vengeance over Silva by knocking him out cold in the first round.
