Najnowsza wersja kultowego menedżera plików (znanego niegdyś pod nazwą Windows Commander). Total Commander to program opierający się na filozofii znanej z Nortona Commandera, również dwa okienka, te same skróty klawiszowe czyli najwyższy poziom wygody w operacjach na plikach i folderach. Oprócz standardowych funkcji spotykanych w tego typu programach, Total Commander oferuje m.in. dostęp do wielu systemów plików (FAT32, NTFS, PocketPC dla palmtopów), wbudowanego klienta FTP/FXP, rozbudowaną obsługę plików skompresowanych (kilkanaście formatów), podgląd dokumentów HTML, grupowe zmiany nazw katalogów i wiele innych... Wersja 7 zawiera wiele ulepszeń, m. in. związanych z interfejsem, rozbudowane wyszukiwanie, a także zakładki z Ulubionymi.

Nowości i zmiany w wersji 7
Najbardziej widoczną zmianą 7. wersji jest odświeżony interfejs programu. Nowe są ikony menu, ikony folderów, plików czy napędów, a także ikona samego programu. Choć zmiana to na pozór drobna to efekt jest od razu widoczny - w poprzednich wersjach, aż "biły w oczy" przestarzałe ikony rodem z Windows 95. Inne nowości to m.in. możliwość ustalenia innego koloru tła w panelach dla linii parzystych i nieparzystych, opcja zapisywania w pliku .log wszystkich operacji wykonywanych na plikach, sortowanie plików kolejno według dwóch kolumn (np. najpierw według daty, a następnie według wielkości plików), autouzupełnianie ścieżki przy wpisywaniu komend, definiowanie własnych komend, bezpieczne połączenia FTP poprzez SSL/TLS, tworzenie archiwów ZIP o wielkości ponad 2 GB i wiele, wiele innych. Program zawiera interfejs także w języku polskim.
