Using a similar format to the very popular Jagdwaffe series, Sea Eagles offers readers a two-volume study into maritime and anti-shipping operations as conducted by the Luftwaffe over the English Channel, North Sea, the Far North and Baltic, the Eastern Front and the Mediterranean. For the first time, these books contain a fascinating and eclectic mix of float-planes and multi-engined bombers converted to anti-shipping duties. There are also studies of some of the more interesting weaponry used by German bomber units operating in such a role, such as the Rheinstahl PC 1400 X Fritz X radio-guided bomb and the Henschel 293 rocket-driven remotely-controlled stand-off missile as used against destroyers in the Mediterranean as well as biographies of some of the leading anti-shipping aces, such as Aufhammer. Alongside the photographic content, much of which is previously unpublished, the book also includes color artworks and first-hand reminiscences from Luftwaffe pilots of the era. The sea-strike and maritime units are amongst the least known of the Luftwaffe s fighter force during World War II; this new two-volume work sets the record straight, providing the aviation and military historian with a comprehensive and detailed study of this often ignored facet of the air war between 1939 and 1945.

About the Author
Chris Goss, a serving RAF officer since 1980, is a highly-respected writer and researcher, specializing in Luftwaffe operations. He holds an MA with Merit on War Studies and also the RAF/USAF Two Air Forces Award. He is the author of several books including the acclaimed Bloody Biscay, It s Suicide But it s Fun, Luftwaffe Fighters in the Battle of Britain, Luftwaffe Bombers in the Battle of Britain, Luftwaffe Seaplanes and Luftwaffe Fighter-Bombers over Britain. Goss lives in Buckinghamshire, England.
