Akcja filmu rozgrywa się w niewielkim miasteczku.
Odbywa się pogrzeb 34-letniego Tommy'ego Heatona. Przemowę wygłasza jego przyjaciel, Rafe Marino. Nie może się on pogodzić z nagłą śmiercią Tommy'ego. Postanawia przeprowadzić w tej sprawie własne dochodzenie. Pomaga mu znajoma policjantka Gloria. Znalezione w gabinecie Heatona zapiski świadczą o tym, że spotykał się on z tajemniczą kobietą, o której nie mówił nikomu. Natomiast w miasteczku dochodzi do kolejnych tajemniczych zgonów. Umierają młodzi mężczyźni w sile wieku. Wiele wskazuje też na to, że oni również spotykali się z jakąś kobietą. Tymczasem na pogrzebie Rafe poznaje Laurę Clifford. Nawiązuje z nią romans, jednak po pewnym czasie odkrywa mroczną tajemnicę z jej przeszłości...
