Opravdovou slávu si však Tigery získaly až u Kurska. Operace „Citadela“ se zúčastnilo 146 tanků tohoto typu. Horst Riebenstahl byl v letech 1941 až 1945 příslušníkem tankových vojsk a až do konce 2. světové války sloužil jako poddůstojník a řidič tanku v 1. tankovém pluku, který byl v době míru dislokován v Erfurtu. V letech 1943-1945 pak řídil tank Panther, s nímž bojoval na jižním úseku východní fronty. Po válce začal sbírat fotografie tankových jednotek se zvláštním zaměřením na 1. tankový pluk, z nichž nakonec sestavil tuto zajímavou a jedinečnou publikaci.

The M2/M3 BRADLEY, which effectiveness as a true combat fighting vehicle cou ld only be tested in t he recent Culf war, was t he first vehicle actually designed to carry t roops to land f r om) the battlefield and allowing them to fight from inside t he protective hull , instead of having to dismount and fight a battle in the open and facing the atrocities of nuclear and bio logical warfare.
The Vie t nam war clea rly demonstrated t he need for a MICFV (Mechanized Infantry Combat Vehicle) such as the Bradley which bene atted from early trials with the XM734 (an M113 with pistol po rts) and the M113 ACAV in t hat war.
As is often the case, combat vehicles are developed in anticipation of enemy desig ns. With t he Soviet BMP infant ry fighting vehicle already in serv ice and the BTR·GO being developed, performance capabi lities had to match, or better still , outclass theirs, Next to that, the new design should be able to keep up in speed with its future "Brot her in Arms", t he M1 ABRAMS tank , one of t he crttenas where an updated version Of the M113 would fail.
In it ial pla ns t o acquire a li censed -built German MARDER were dropped on t he basis of rather poor armor protection, inadequate fire power and high cost. After a lot of turmoil within the Defense Department on t his new MICV desig n, FMC corporation was awarded a development contract fo r eig ht init ial prototypes, which it delivered for testing in 1978. Named in horror of t he famous WWII ge nera l, omar N. BRADLEV, seve ra l hundred M2 (Infant ry) and M3 rcavatrvi MICV's were to be delivered to units both statestoe and overseas from 1982onwards.

Mechanize your infantry and be the first to have your troops where you need them before the enemy does. Arm the vehicle itself and you have an additional weapon system. Make it light, maneuvrable and design it so it can be equipped with more than one weapon system. This must have been the terminology behind the development of the Ml 13.
The Ml 13 APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) Is one of the most used full-tracked vehicles ever. Not only the US Army but nearly every army in the world uses at least one type of this aluminum armored vehicle. The first diesel-powered Ml 13, designated M113A1, was produced in I960, replacing the aging M59.
The M113 is air-dropable and air-transportable. In addition, it is amphibious , which permit it to cross inland waterways. The basic design of the M113 became the basis of what was to lxxome a family of more than a dozen vehicle adaptions, with each new model retaining the basic features of the family. As product improvements became available, ford Motor Company and Government efforts resulted in the development of mortar vehicles, Vulcan air defense vehicles and specialized vehicles such as recovery and fitter's models.

In vielen Banden des "Waffenarsenals" wurden die deutschen Kampfpanzer des Zweiten Weltkrieges und die auf ihren Fahrgestellen montierten Selbstfahrlafetten beschrieben und vorgestellt. Daneben gab es aber noch eine ganze Reihe von Sonderen!Wicklungen, die bisher nicht oder nur am Rande berücksichtigt wurden. Diese sollen in diesem Heft eine zusammengefaßte Darstellung erfahren. Ein Überbleibsel aas der Vorkriegs-Experimentier-Phase war das "Neu baufahr zeug", das im Norwegenfeldzug 1940 einen stark propagandistisch geprägten Einsatz erfuhr.
Die Bemühungen zur Weiterentwicklung der von vorneherein nur als Übergangslösung gedachten Panzer 1 und II. insbesondere in Richtung auf einen dringend benötigten Aufklärungspanzer ("Luchs") werden geschildert, ebenso wie die Vcrcinheitlichungsbestrebungen bei den Panzern III und IV einerseits sowie V ("Panther") und VI ("Tiger") andererseits.

The Battle of the Bulge was the “last hurrah” for the German Army on the Western Front. The purpose of this book is to describe this battle from the German point of view.
The greatest military disaster the United States suffered in the European Theater of Operations in World War II took place in the Ardennes Offensive, when most of the U.S. 106th Infantry Division was destroyed in the Schnee Eifel (Snow Mountains). This disastrous defeat was not inflicted by the vaulted panzer troops, the elite paratroopers, the hardened SS (Schutzstaffel) men or Skorzeny’s commandos. It was administered by a mediocre and unheralded unit - the 18th Volksgrenadier Division. Most of its men had been industrial workers or in the Luftwaffe or navy the year before. This book covers the Battle of the Schnee Eifel from the German point of view in greater depth than any other book has ever done, using unpublished German after-action reports and manuscripts -
especially those of Lieutenant Colonel Dietrich Moll, the chief of operations of the 18th Volksgrenadier. Elsewhere, the manuscript also refers to similar unpublished German manuscripts, as well as the unpublished papers of Theodor-Friedrich von Stauffenberg, to produce a unique account of the Battle of the Bulge, again, mostly from the German point of view.
