Switchball jest połączeniem zręcznościówki oraz rozbudowanej gry logicznej. Zadaniem gracza jest odpowiednie prowadzenie widocznej na ekranie kulki, tak aby dotrzeć do strefy wyjścia. Po drodze należy oczywiście wysilać szare komórki, tak aby na bieżąco radzić sobie z napotykanymi problemami. Tytuł ten w bardzo oczywisty sposób nawiązuje do takich gier jak Ballance (PC), czy chociażby Kororinpa: Marble Mania (Wii). Elementem odróżniającym Switchball od wymienionych wyżej pozycji jest między innymi wyjątkowo szczegółowa grafika. Producent zadbał też o to, aby prowadzoną kulę bezpośrednio wykorzystywać do rozwiązywania różnorakich zagadek.

Podobnie jak w wielu innych grach z tego gatunku, sterowana przez gracza kuleczka może podlegać modyfikacjom, zmieniając swoje właściwości fizyczne. Przykładowo, może się ona przeistoczyć w metalową kulkę, tak aby dociążyć pokonywane w danym momencie przeszkody, bądź też przepchnąć napotkane obiekty. Tego typu modyfikacji jest oczywiście więcej (powerball, airball i standardowy marbleball). Do przeprowadzania modyfikacji wykorzystuje się specjalne stacje dokujące.

Autorzy gry zadbali w sumie o trzydzieści różnych poziomów, rozgrywanych w pięciu światach (Skyworld, Iceworld, Caveworld, Cloudworld oraz Lavaworld). Kolejne plansze są coraz trudniejsze, wymagając złożonego planowania kolejnych posunięć. Gracz w trakcie zabawy napotyka ponad czterdzieści różnego rodzaju utrudnień. Mogą to być między innymi spychające go z ustalonej ścieżki wiatraki, ogromne działa, czy magnesy.

Oprócz klasycznego trybu zabawy przygotowano także wyzwania czasowe, w których najbardziej liczy się oczywiście szybkie dotarcie do strefy końcowej. Ponadto swój wynik można przesłać na odpowiednią stronę internetową, porównując swoje osiągnięcia z wynikami innych graczy. Wizualnie Switchball prezentuje się nadzwyczaj dobrze. Bardzo ładnie wykonano zarówno tła, jak i znajdujące się na planszy obiekty. Sterowanie kulką jest jednak bardzo uproszczone, dzięki czemu gra powinna zainteresować także początkujących sympatyków tego typu produkcji.
