The holiday story revolves around a tabloid reporter who finds herself in a complicated situation when she gets to know the family she is supposed to break news about and discovers that she likes them.
Greta Kaine (Law) is an ambitious tabloid reporter Pulse! Gossip in Los Angeles, a TMZ style rag with plans to keep up with the times by moving from print to online reporting. Greta and her chief rival Wes (Lenk) are in competition for the editorship position of the new online incarnation of Pulse! Gossip. Their old-school style boss sets the two against eachother, promising the big promotion to the reporter who wins the scoop about the Tannehill family. The boss has gotten a tip that one of the late Senator Tannehill’s two handsome and eligible sons might be proposing marriage at the family’s Big Bear compound during Christmas.
Greta's friend is preparing for her upcoming destination wedding and becoming a bridezilla. In order to help the bride, Greta offers to pick up her wedding dress, a big puffy creation and an heirloom of the groom's family. Greta places the big, white dress in the trunk of her car.
When Greta’s assistant tells her that Wes has a head start to snowy Big Bear, Greta dashes off to the Big Bear Lake mountain resort without making any preparations, thinking she will buy warm clothes when she arrives. While looking for the Tannenhill estate, she runs her car into a tree, realizes that she is almost out of gas and that she has lost cell phone reception.
Freezing, she throws on the only clothing she has in the car: her friend's precious wedding dress,, which she promptly ruins by tripping and tumbling down a hill while searching for help. Lucky for Greta, a handsome stranger turns up and rescues her, taking her to his rustic mountain lodge. Since she is wearing a wedding dress, the stranger assumes he has a runaway bride on his hands.
The handsome stranger turns out to be just who Greta is looking for, elder Tannehill son Ben Tannenhill (Belfi). What follows is a comedy of errors, as Greta volunteers to pose as Ben’s girlfriend after his brother Jared (Campo) comes home with his conniving girlfriend Klaire (Abromeit), who is also Ben’s ex-girlfriend.
Now an invited guest at the Tannehill estate, Greta discovers that the family, including matriarch Maggie Tannenhill (Richardson) and long-time caretaker Peters (Brown), are more down-to-earth than she ever gave them credit for. She learns that they are actually very nice and becomes guilt-ridden about her subterfuge as grows more attracted to Ben.
Greta has a crisis of conscience has she wonders if betrayal is worth the price of the scoop.

Henry Ramiro, a Chicago sports radio shock jock is changed by a Christmas season encounter with a 15-year-old fan who is dying of cancer who forces him to be nice for a day. He realizes that his new-found disposition is having a positive effect on everyone around him, including the boy's health and the local sports teams' success rates but he also comes under fire from his competition and his rating begin to suffer. He also realizes that his family suffered most from his negative outlook on life and questions his current intentions. When they finally have enough and leave, he questions whether the change ws worth it but his fans band together to help him realize that miracles do happen to the best and worst of humanity.
This made-for-cable "dramedy" represents a change of pace for comedian George Lopez), here cast as a nasty, vituperative Chicago radio "shock jock" sportscaster named Henry Ramiro. Although his show is Number One in the ratings, Henry has managed to alienate everyone around him with his relentless verbal assaults--and when we say "everyone", we also mean his long-suffering wife Diana (Lisa Vidal) and his insecure daughter Olivia (Bianca Collins). This is the status quo until 15-year-old Grant Michael (James Kirk), whose life-threatening illness has not dampened his zest for living and his relentless good cheer, shames Henry into being a nice guy for one whole day. Not surprisingly, Henry's ratings immediately tank--but he manages to learn a valuable lesson (with a few detours along the way) just in time for Christmas. Naughty or Nice was produced by the Hallmark corporation and telecast by the ABC network on December 11, 2004.
