Anton Chaitkin - Treason in America, From Aaron Bu rr to Averell Harriman (1998).jpg

About the Author
Anton Chaitkin is a founding member of the political movement associated with Lyndon LaRouche. He is the history editor of Executive Intelligence Review, and has written numerous articles on political and economic history. His 1992 book, George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography, co-authored with Webster Tarpley, stands as the definitive biography of the former President.

Chaitkin was born in New York City in 1943, the son of Jacob Chaitkin, an attorney who spent the 1930s fighting Nazi Germany's corporate and legal collaborators on Wall Street.

Anton Chaitkin attended public school in Pasadena, California. His study of the history of the U.S. "Eastern Establishment" began in 1978, after he became aware of the startling inaccuracy of the relevant historical material in such publications as The New York Times. Chaitkin and his wife are the parents of a grown son, and live in Leesburg, Virginia. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Douglas R. Egerton - Gabriel's Rebellion, The Virg inia Slave Conspiracies of 1800 and 1802 (1993).jpg

Gabriel's Rebellion tells the dramatic story of what was perhaps the most extensive slave conspiracy in the history of the American South. Douglas Egerton illuminates the complex motivations that underlay two related Virginia slave revolts: the first, in 1800, led by the slave known as Gabriel; and the second, called the 'Easter Plot,' instigated in 1802 by one of his followers. Although Gabriel has frequently been portrayed as a messianic, Samson-like figure, Egerton shows that he was a literate and highly skilled blacksmith whose primary goal was to destroy the economic hegemony of the 'merchants, the only whites he ever identified as his enemies. According to Egerton, the social, political, and economic disorder of the Revolutionary era weakened some of the harsh controls that held slavery in place during colonial times. Emboldened by these conditions, a small number of literate slaves—most of them highly skilled artisans—planned an armed insurrection aimed at destroying slavery in Virginia. The intricate scheme failed, as did the Easter Plot that stemmed from it, and Gabriel and many of his followers were hanged. By placing the revolts within the broader context of the volatile political currents of the day, Egerton challenges the conventional understanding of race, class, and politics in the early days of the American republic.

Scheldon H. Danziger - Understanding Poverty (2002 ).jpg

In spite of an unprecedented period of growth and prosperity, the poverty rate in the United States remains high relative to the levels of the early 1970s and relative to those in many industrialized countries today. UnderstandingPoverty brings the problem of poverty in America to the fore, focusing on its nature and extent at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Looking back over the four decades since the nation declared war onpoverty, the authors ask how the poor have fared in the market economy, what government programs have and have not accomplished, and what remains to be done. They help us understand how changes in the way the labor market operates, in family structure, and in social welfare, health, and education policies have affected trends inpoverty. Most significantly, they offer suggestions for changes in programs and policies that hold real promise for reducing poverty and income inequality.

Stephen I. Schwartz - Atomic Audit, The Costs and Consequences of U.S. Nuclear Weapons Since 1940 (1 998).jpg

Atomic Audit is the first comprehensive reconstruction of the costs and consequences of America's nuclear weapons programs--a fact that speak volumes about our cold war preferences for secrets and myths over democracy and facts.... By comprehensively revealing the waste and danger associated with our nuclear buildup, the authors of Atomic Audit lay the groundwork for questioning why we should continue to base our national security on nuclear weapons.

Jeanne Rosier Smith - Writing Tricksters, Mythic G ambols in American Ethnic Fiction (1997).jpg

Writing Tricksters examines the remarkable resurgence of tricksters--ubiquitous shape-shifters who dwell on borders, at crossroads, and between worlds--on the contemporary cultural and literary scene. Depicting a chaotic, multilingual world of colliding and overlapping cultures, many of America's most successful and important women writers are writing tricksters. Taking up works by Maxine Hong Kingston, Louise Erdrich, and Toni Morrison, Jeanne Rosier Smith accessibly weaves together current critical discourses on marginality, ethnicity, feminism, and folklore, illuminating a "trickster aesthetic" central to non-Western storytelling traditions and powerfully informing American literature today.

Russell W. Glenn, Jody Jacobs - Preparing for the Proven Inevitable, An Urban Operations Training St rategy for America's Joint Force (2006).jpg

01 - USA1 - Russell W. Glenn, Jody Jacobs - Preparing for the Prov...tions Training Strategy for Americas Joint Force 2006.jpg

Because future military operations are likely to include actions in densely populated, built-up areas, joint and service training initiatives over the past decade have increasingly reflected an interest in preparing for such contingencies. To assist the military community in better orchestrating its resources to improve forcewide readiness for urban operations, RAND was asked to develop a joint urban training strategy for the period 2005-2011. This report presents that strategy and describes the process used to develop it. The study identifies areas in need of redress and proposes ways in which the services Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force and other critical components of national capability can better ready themselves cooperatively for future urban operations.

Peter Berkowitz - The Future of American Intellige nce (2005).jpg

The United States today faces new kinds of adversaries, armed with an array of sinister weapons and capable of communicating and coordinating actions around the globe with unprecedented ease. As The Future of American Intelligence demonstrates, this dangerous new world requires changes in how the United States collects and analyzes intelligence and translates it into policy. These essays from a diverse group of distinguished contributors deepen our understanding of the new national security threats posed by terrorism, by the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and by the spread of Islamic extremism. They examine the obstacles-intellectual, governmental, bureaucratic, military, and technological-to making U.S. intelligence more effective and offer thoughtful recommendations for reform. Approaching the problem from a variety of disciplinary perspectives, the authors stress how it is critical that the intelligence community revise its deeply entrenched assumptions and ideas about how to collect and analyze intelligence. They reveal how those assumptions led the United States to overlook the gravity of the threat posed by bin Laden and be dead wrong about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq-and how they generally stifle creative thinking and independent judgment within intelligence agencies. Their recommendations include suggestions for reforming the management style and the organizational structure of the intelligence services as well as establishing more effective procedures for taking advantage of both current and future technological advances.

Konstandinos Kalimtgis - Dope, Inc. Britain's Opiu m War Against The U.S.(1978).jpg

Dope Inc. makes a solid case, not just through connecting the dots and theorizing, but also indisputable documentation, that the worlds Heroin trade was and still is controlled by an octopus network of "respectable" world elites, including British aristocrats leading all the way up to the House of Windsor, British based Jewish bankers who finance and launder money for drug operations, a handful of super wealthy blue blood WASP families from the New England area of the USA, with underlings like the so called Mafia, the Chinese Triads and also shows how the drug trade is tightly interwoven with the gold and diamond trade. Another thing I found interesting is how their servants like the Bronfmans and Kennedys moved up the ladder from being disreputable gangsters to high level servants of the elites. Bronfmans have intermarried with Rothschilds and Kennedys with the British aristocracy.

It also has good info on the Chinese Opium wars where the British sent troops into China because the Chinese began to crack down on Opium use and stop British shipments of Opium grown in India into China. Yes they invaded China because China had had enough of Britain enslaving their population to drugs and getting richer off of it. This is mainstream history. Just look up Chinese Opium wars or the British East India Company on Wikipedia or on a search engine. Something tells me your average dumb downed brainwashed University history major has no clue that this ever occured.

The criticisms I have of this are when they go into the occultic side of some of these secret societies I don't agree with all of this books conclusions as to what these groups true beliefs or origins are. There is a lot of political and social bias in this book so you have to watch some of that. I also disagree with the stance this book takes on legalization. If it were up to me Marijuana would be legalized tomorrow and I would at least take a long hard look at legalizing other drugs. Dope Inc and the information in it is dated too. The gears have shifted quite a bit now that they have moved new world order troops into Afhanistan, whose Heroin production suddenly went through the roof after the Taliban was deposed. In spite of those critiques this is still a must read book.
