Jesus miał 6 lat gdy pod opieką starszego brata Enrique rozpoczął tworzyć pierwsze kompozycje. Po zakończeniu Wojny Domowej w Hiszpanii kontynuował naukę w Real Conservatorio de Madrid, kończąc naukę gry na pianinie, a równolegle uczył się prawa i pisał popularne opowiadania - pisał je pod pseudonimem David Khume. W tym też czasie zdecydował się wstąpić do Instituto de Investigaciones y Experiencias Cinematográicas (IIEC), gdzie przez dwa lata zajmował się reżyserią i grał jako aktor. Później wyjechał do Paryża, gdzie na Sorbonie studiował techniki reżyserskie. Pracował tam jako kompozytor i asystent wielu znamienitych reżyserów. Początkowo reżyserował filmy krótkometrażowe o tematyce kulturalnej.
Jest jednym z największych reżyserów kina grozy i ma w swym dorobku zarówno filmy artystyczne, filmy klasy B, ale i kino typowo erotyczne. Jego dzieła zawsze były produkcjami niskobudżetowymi, ale były dopracowane i kręcone z pełnym zaangażowaniem. Jest bardzo twórczym autorem. Bywało że kręcił równocześnie kilka filmów, z udziałem podobnych zespołów aktorskich.
Nakręcił ponad 180 filmów i praktycznie w każdym z nich grywał małe role - adwokata, portiera, muzyka - za każdym razem postacie dziwne i komiczne zarazem.
Jego twórczość wywarła wpływ praktycznie w całej filmowej Europie, a także w USA - kontaktował się min. z Rogerem Cormanem. Jest jednym z najbardziej niepokornych reżyserów hiszpańskich i dzięki swej pracowitości udało mu się osiągnąć niezależność , jakiej zawsze pragnął. Nadal pracuje, tworząc na przekór trendom, choć z powodu podeszłego wieku coraz mniej.

Midnight Party (1976) aka Lady porno.avi

Strange tale of a dancer (Lina Romay) who leaves her husband and rock star boyfriend at home when two playboys invite her to a midnight party. Once at the party she has a threesome with a couple and then wakes up the next morning to find both of them dead in bed with a knife in their back. Soon Romay finds herself kidnapped and on a strange voyage where she keeps showing up at various locations. This is a rather strange film because a lot of the time it has Romay looking at the camera and talking to the viewer as well as telling them jokes. There's no doubt this was meant as a comedy or even a spoof of sex films because there are a lot of jokes running throughout. Some of these jokes work but the majority of them don't. The film starts off pretty fast and loose but quickly wears out its welcome and in the end it really starts to drag going on for 90-minutes. Romay is charming as ever and the fact that she runs around naked for the entire movie is only a good thing. Monica Swinn is good in her role and Franco himself appears with a wooden leg. The best joke in the movie deals with Romay being a working woman while her husband sits out home and does housework. This leads to some pretty funny scenes where the husband plays what would normally be played by a woman. In the end this film certainly isn't among Franco's best but it's not nearly one of his worst.

Killer Barbys (1996).avi

The movie begins by showing us some poor chap dying at the hands of goofball simpleton Baltasar (Santiago Segura) and two dwarfs. Yep, this is a Jess Franco film. Then the movie shifts focus to the Spanish rock/punk band The Killer Barbies performing at some small venue. Why is there a spelling change in the title of the film? Perhaps Ken and Barbie threatened to sue. Anyway, as the group bangs out one of its Ramones-esque tunes on stage one fact becomes glaringly obvious. The lead singer of the group, a young lady known here as Flavia but whose real world name is Silvia Superstar, is blazingly hot. The music isn't too bad, either. Then disaster sets in as the band finishes performing, loads up the requisite van, and heads off into the night destined for their next gig. Banal small talk follows for several minutes, obviously in an attempt to provide the necessary "character" development so we will feel something other than pure joy when the sauce starts to flow later on. With teeth grinding predictability, the van breaks down out in the middle of nowhere

One of the most popular and copied movies of all time, The Most Dangerous Game, gets a erotic remake by sleaze director Jess Franco. The idea sounds very daring and dangerous, but thankfully, The Perverse Countess is a complete winner! From the very hot girls on display (Lina Romay is pretty much naked through the whole movie... Shocking I know!) to the exciting horror elements, this one is a stylish masterpiece of the genre. The camera moves are pretty wild, and the locations are beautiful. The music score is very nice to listen at first also (although it gets a bit repetitive by the end...) The cast is pretty damn awesome also, full of Franco regulars. As the rich owners of the island where the game is played, Alice Arno shines in the role of the evil countess, while Howard Vernon plays her husband, in his usual charming self. The impossibly gorgeous Lina Romay plays the latter victim of the eccentric couple, while Tania Busselier from Ilsa: The Wicked Warden shows up to get naked somewhere.

Eugenie (Historia de una perversión) (1980).avi

Jess Franco goes the de Sade route again with this film, which is a remake of similar films from 1969 and 1970 (among others). In this version, a perverted couple (Robert Foster, Mabel Escano) stalk a young teenage girl named Eugenie (Katja Bienert) and eventually take her to their island where they try to deflower her. Franco has countless credits to his name and many times he remakes his own films. In some cases, as here, he remakes them several times. I was really looking forward to this film because both earlier versions are among the directors best work but the story here doesn't quite flow as well. The first forty-minutes of the film we see the couple stalking the young girl who is usually walking around totally naked. Franco makes a lot of this very erotic but after a while it grows tiresome and by the time they hit the island, you know where the story is going and the psychedelic sexual scenes come off rather lame whereas in the earlier films they were quite disturbing and freakish. I've never been a fan of Foster so his presence here doesn't do much for me and Escano doesn't work either. Lina Romay plays a sex slave who thinks she's a dog but she doesn't add anything. Katja Bienert is the one who comes off the best but I'm sure many will have a problem with her nudity and sexual situations since, according to the birthdate she gave, she's only fifteen here. Check out Eugenie de Sade and Eugenie...The Story of Her Journey Into Perversion instead as they show Franco, this story and the eroticism at their peak.

Blind Target (2000).avi

Blind Target is the story of a young woman who emigrated from the poor tiny Latin American country of San Hermoso only to strike it rich and famous as an author in the United States. When she returns to her homeland to promote her novel "Desperate Letters" - a thinly veiled expose of her native land's political corruption - she is in for a welcome that she could not have imagined in her worst nightmares.

It is a welcome pleasure to watch Franco do with video that so many talentless hacks are incapable of. We get exotic locales, a fine story line, albeit a little confusing, but that is the Jess Franco way. In addition to all of this the lead actress is gorgeous and has a smouldering fire underneath her performance. Add to that the lovely Lina Romay who is always a joy to see before the camera and if that wasn't enough... LInnea Quigley! My favorite scream queen actually being used for her thespian skills in a magnificent role! On the DVD there are deleted scenes with commentary that at first you're like, so what? Then we get this great shot that I assumed was a crane shot. The producer explains that they stole three picnic tables from a nearby park, stacked them one on top of the other and set the camera on top of them. Of course Jess wanted to be sure that the shot was in frame and in focus so this little, old man scuttled up the top of the stack to make sure that they got the shot! This is professionalism in a medium that has never been real kind to Jess. The man deserves better and the viewing public needs to recognize his genius for what it truly is.

Virgin Report (1971).avi

Part documentary, part mockumentary, part sexploitation, all Jess Franco. Well sort of. Tucked in between stock footage is a quasi-documentary about the loss of sexual innocence. Starting in the Garden of Eden we are taken on a voyage around the world that covers various rites of passage and cultures deflowering of the virgin. The film sits precariously in a mixture of genres, but sits comfortly in the mondo genre best. Told in a series of vignettes you see everything ranging from native stock footage inserts to footage shot to titillate the masses. Very tongue in cheek, I wouldn't call this a serious study but I'll give Jess credit for trying to pass it off as one. Good or bad is irrelevant when talking about a Franco film. Franco mixes the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly…usually in the same film. This one appears to be rather obscure and its' occasional funny moment will most likely appeal to Francophiles everywhere.

When Dracula tries to bite Silvia during a performance, Dr Seward decides to use Silvia as bait. He sends her out walking alone. When Dracula follows, they pursue and stake him. Dracula metamorphs into a white rabbit and hops away.

Extremely bizarre Jess Franco flick about an actress (Lina Romay) who puts on sex shows with a story involving aliens who kidnap girls and knock them up. The first gag is that the women, due to the super sperm, can deliver 600 babies an hour. The second gag is that real aliens see this and decide to get in on the action. This is probably the best sex comedy I've seen from Franco but I had to view it in Spanish without any subs so with subs I might like it even more. Romay, when she's not showing off her sex talent, can be very funny with a light comic touch and she gets to deliver that several times throughout the film. The sex scenes are all very soft and it's rather funny seeing Franco, a sex director, show why "sex is crazy" to look at. The alien make up at the start of the film is cheap but very effective looking.

"Fury in the Tropics" is Jess Franco's ninth women-in-
prison film proper, although many of his other 150+ films
have women-in-prison-type themes and situations. Lina
Romay stars as the proverbial prostitute with a heart of
gold who lives and works in a bamboo-built brothel,
regularly servicing the freedom fighters who stroll
through. She falls in love with one of her customers, and
she and one of her sister call girls are sent to a women's
prison, where they are promptly stripped and whipped in
the prison yard in front of the other prisoners -- the two
are whipped with a riding crop more than fifty times!
Shortly thereafter the women are stripped and hung by their
wrists and then have their breasts and private areas poked
by a sword. The women plot their escape, but cannot be
saved from an incredibly brutal gang rape, even vicious by
Franco's standards and even more protracted than the similar
scene in Franco's WIP film "Ilsa, the Wicked Warden." Yes,
Jess certainly knows how to please his audience.

This film was shot in the early 1980's during a very low
budget period in Franco's career, and as a result we really
do not see one convincing prison set in this entire film,
some of which looks as though it could have been shot in the
back lot of a store or a mall. Nevertheless, no one who is
going to watch this film is looking for the scenery. The
cheap, sadistic WIP thrills are here in abundance, and unlike
"Sadomania" or even the four-way female sex scene in "Women
in Cell Block 9", there is absolutely no humor in "Fury in
the Tropics", just torture, rape, a fat dictator general, a
vicious lesbian wardress, and heavy drama. The acting is also
quite good. Fans of Franco's other WIP films should not miss,
though be aware that the alternate version of the film,
entitled "Outlaw Women", is missing most of the prison S&M but
has an extended escape ending not in the main version. A
hardcore version, "Orgasmo Perverso", supposedly exists, but
I don't believe it has ever turned up on video."

This hardcore film is once again from Spanish director Jess Franco and this one here is certainly the best of the three I've seen. Again, I'm really not sure how to rate this stuff but Romay, when not sexually servicing everyone, has a lot of nice, comedic moments, which is why I rank this the highest. It's also nice seeing Susan Hemmingway, although it took me a while to get use to seeing her in hardcore scenes.

Falo Crest (1987).avi

Lina Romay, best known as Jess Franco's wife and cult actress, directed this one. Franco wrote the story, the music, and did almost everything else. So what can we expect?

Well humor has never been absent from Franco's work, so be prepared to laugh. I've seen the spanish version so I didn't get all the jokes, but overall the hardcore sex mixes well with the touching comedy moments Romay has directed.

A direct parody of Falcon Crest, this movie is brilliant porn, not so exciting but still very interesting. I've even spotted one of the zombies of VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD during the scene where Sado Sommers is raped.

And when you'll find out what's the secret behind Falo Crest's excellent wine, your wine drinking evenings will never feel the same...
