Leon (Marcus Rutherford) jest dziewiętnastoletnim, niezamożnym, czarnoskórym chłopakiem, który wraca w rodzinne strony - do ubogiej dzielnicy Londynu, aby przejąć opiekę nad zmagającą się z alkoholizmem matką. Aby uporać się ze świadomością braku perspektyw, spędza wolny czas na trenowaniu boksu i włóczeniu się po mieście wraz z czupurnymi znajomymi. Jest w nim wiele gniewu, który nie znajduje ujścia. Sytuacja ulega diametralnej zmianie, kiedy podczas pewnej imprezy Leon poznaje tajemniczą blondynkę Twiggy (Sophie Kennedy Clark) wychowywaną w zupełnie innych warunkach niż on.
